The engine is the heart of your vehicle. Every other component can be in absolutely flawless condition, but if the engine isn’t working, nothing else is going to work either. That’s why it’s so important that you make sure your engine is always in peak performance condition. One way of doing this is by stopping into your local Signature Tire for regularly scheduled engine maintenance.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Start Your Engines!
At the most basic level, a car engine’s purpose is to convert gasoline into energy in order to make it move. Of course, the reality is that engines are a lot more complicated than that and feature a number of parts that come together to make everything work. From the cylinders, to the crankshaft, to the pistons, and beyond, a car engine is truly an impressive piece of engineering.
How Do I Know if my Engine Needs Repair?
Or course, like all mechanical equipment, your engine may eventually need service or repair, and your local Signature Tire is able to offer both to you. If you’re not entirely certain whether or not your engine is in need of repair, hear are a few common warning signs that indicate serious wear.
- Smoking – Engine issues usually result in a lot of smoke. Often, this smoke will come in one of three colours (white, black, and blue), all of which mean very different things. White smoke usually means that you’ve got an issue with your engine’s head gaskets or cylinder heads. Black smoke usually means there’s an issue with the parts that control the mixture of fuel and air that is entering your combustion chamber. On rare occasions, black smoke can also be an indication of serious engine problems which will require immediate assistance. Blue smoke is a clear indication that you are burning oil due to engine wear and breakage.
- Noise – A failing engine is almost always accompanied by a lot of noise. To be honest, these noises are loud, startling, and resemble metal banging into metal. Noises such as these are a cause for instant concern. If you experience these noises, your best bet is to stop driving the vehicle immediately and contact your local Signature Tire as soon as possible.
- Power Loss – Over the years your vehicle will lose power. This is something that can be chalked up to standard wear and tear. If you’re noticing an immediate power loss, this could be a sign that a major component in your vehicle’s engine has failed and will need to be addressed as soon as possible.
Because your vehicle’s engine is such a critical component, if you think there’s a problem, you should address it with a Signature Tire professional.
